Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (abbreviated as ANZAC Day) was the name given to a combined force of First Australian Imperial Force and New Zealand Army troops who landed on Turkey’s Gallipoli Peninsula at around dawn on Sunday,  the 25th day of April, 1915, barely nine months after the outbreak of World War I (the Great War).

ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and N ew
 Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served".

The last 100 years Australians and New Zealander's have attended dawn services across the nation commberating the sacrifce for Australian and New Zealand Troopers in wars from the Great War (World War I) to Afghanistan.

The Ode

The Ode comes from the fourth stanza of the poem For the Fallen by the English poet and writer, Laurence Binyon. It was published in London in The Winnowing Fan: Poems of the Great War in 1914. It was used in association with commemorative services in Australia by 1921.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them.
